Ph.D., University of Oklahoma, 1969.
Professor Emeritus Sierka joined The University of Arizona faculty in 1969. Dr. Sierka's research interests focus in the areas of physical-chemical treatment of water and wastewater for reuse; oxidation with ozone and other chemical oxidants; membrane processing, including ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis; and heterogeneous photcatalysis of toxic and hazardous wastes. Research funding for these activities has come from national laboratories, water utility companies, the military, and various industries such as wood products and aluminum.
Current research is centered on the application of photocatalysis and membrane techniques for the treatment of wastewater for recycle and product recovery.
Dr. Sierka practiced in the chemical engineering field for six years prior to receiving his Ph.D. in 1969 and entering academia. He currently is serving as a consultant to various industries, utility companies, and government agencies. |
